Eugene Pallette ( July 8 , 1889, Kansas – September 3, 1954, Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor of the silent film era. Eugene William Pallett was born on July 8, 1889, in Winfield , Kansas . His father was William Baird Pallett (born 1858, worked in the insurance business), his mother was Elnora Jackson (1860–1906), and his older sister was Bolo L. Pallett (1880–1968). Eugene attended the Culver Academies in Culver , Indiana , then became a stage actor, and six years later devoted himself entirely to cinema, where he was an extra for the first two years. The first film in which Pallett was listed in the credits was the short The Fugitive in 1913.
