Kathryn McGuire
Kathryn McGuire ( December 6, 1903 – October 10, 1978) was an American silent film actress and dancer. McGuire was born in Peoria , Illinois . As a child, she moved to Aurora , Illinois, and later to Chicago . She was educated at Jennings Seminary. At age 14, Catherine moved with her parents to California, where the young girl began taking ballet lessons. McGuire's love for dance remained throughout her life. While performing at the Maryland Hotel, Kathryn McGuire was noticed by producer Thomas Ince and invited to appear in a film. In 1921, she appeared in the film Silent Challenge. In 1922, Kathryn McGuire became the winner of the WAMPAS Baby Stars advertising campaign. Later, the actress starred in Buster Keaton's best films - Sherlock Jr. and The Navigator , as well as in The Flame of Life (with Priscilla Dean in the title role). With the advent of the sound film era, McGuire's Hollywood career ended. She died of cancer on October 10, 1978, in Los Angeles , California . Read More
